The best career choice for all those candidates seeking to enter in the glorified nursing career would be the career practice as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Certified nursing assistants are basically the basic nursing care providers who work under the supervision of registered nurses or medical doctors. They provide routine basic nursing care to the patients such as responding to patients’ need, assisting them in their daily activities like feeding, bathing, grooming, helping them with light exercises, relocating the bedridden patients to prevent bedsores, preparing patients for medical procedures and surgery and many more. Also some nursing assistants, according to the department they are involved with, need to take extra responsibilities according to the situation and demand of patients.

Information on Job Responsibilities of a CNA

There are medical responsibilities as well apart from nursing care. Nursing assistants are often responsible to monitor the health conditions of patients by checking their vital signs. Vital signs include body temperature, blood pressure, blood sugar level, pulse rate and other such indicators. Every single change in such indicators from normal range should be reported to the supervisor. Also, they need to maintain records of this information that helps respective medical doctors to administer medications and other necessary clinical assistances.

CNAs are found working in nursing facilities like hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, assisted or long term care facilities and even in doctor’s office. The patient can be a newborn baby to the elderly people. No matter what may be the age of patient, you need to be equally compassionate to all but you can always make choice for your working setting as all of these nursing facilities are in shortage of nursing assistants.
