After being licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant, the license you acquire will be validated for two years from the month you acquired your license. The validation of the license may vary with the states of United States i.e. some of the states only provide validation for one year. After the expiry of your license you will no longer allowed to work as a CNA in that state. So, in order to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will have to renew your license which is possible through CNA certification renewal procedure. You will have to send an application to that State Nurse Aide Registry from which you got your CNA license. It means that, if you are licensed in Arizona, then you will have to do CNA Certification Renewal in the state of Arizona not in other states such as Florida, Utah or Texas.
The CNA certification renewal is quite easier than giving the CNA certification test. But there are certain requirements that you should keep in mind before applying for the CNA certification renewal. They are:
You should be doing jobs as a CNA in order to go through the CNA certification renewal procedure. The State Nurse Aide Registry requires you to work as a CNA with a minimum time of 160 hours in your 2 years license period. But, this may vary with the states as well. Otherwise, you will have to study the CNA training programs in CNA schools and pass the certification exam in order to be certified again.
CNA Certification Renewal
The state will do a background check of every applicant that is applying for CNA Certification Renewal. You will have to come up clean with the criminal background check. If you are found positive with the background check, then you may not be able to get your certification renewed.
Keeping Address Up To Date with the State:
This is very important thing you need to do as a Certified Nursing Assistant. It is your duty to keep your current address up to date with the State Nurse Aide Registry as they will be sending documents from the time to time which need to be responded from time to time. Also, generally the State Nurse Aide Registry sends the CNA certification renewal documents in your address approximately 60 days before your license expires. In case, you have not updated your current address to the State Nurse Aide Registry, then on the time of CNA Certification Renewal it will cost you certain amount to pay for not updating your current address.
You are also free to apply online for CNA Certification Renewal. They are a lot easier and faster methods to send an application.
