What Happens to My CNA Certificate When I Move to a New State?

Certification exams for CNAs are regulated by state and candidates are provided working license according to the requirements that the particular state holds. Now, if you want to relocate your address and go to another state, what happens to the certification you hold? Have you ever thought about these conditions? I am sure that you don’t want to repeat the same training course, then what’s next? Relax, we, in this article, will help you to find ways to continue with your career no matter if you choose to relocate yourself or your workplace.

The requirements of certification vary from one state to anther but there is no such vast difference. This makes the acquirement of new working license in new states simpler. All you have to do is to request a new working license.

For instance, if you are moving from Texas to Michigan, all you need to do to get a new license is to fill a Request for Exemption form from Nurse Aide Training form. This form is easily available on the website of state’s nursing board. The criteria for filling out the form vary but on usual case the form asks you to have an active license or a license that has not expired and a good standing reputation as a CNA in the former state.

Then the candidate would be then asked to send the form to the former state in order to confirm the information provided.

After the approval part the candidate will be asked to take the state certification exam and be placed on the registry of the respective state. In the given example, after all process completes, all the information will be entered in to database of the new state, here in Michigan board of nursing aide registry. The new license will be issued to you now.

CNA Certificate

Almost in all other states the requirements and process are similar to that of Michigan. There may be slight other requirements. It is advised to check the complete information by visiting the Nursing Board of the state you are planning to shift with or check the website. The consultations with consultation service providers or even with working CNAs in the new state would be fruitful.

Make sure that you reach to the state approved firms for any consultancy service providers regarding issue of new working license in new state. But above all, direct information from nursing board is the best solution. Some small information can be of a great help sometimes. Do not outlook such valuable small information’s.

Although the working license changes from one state to another the work duties will remain same and challenging for CNAs all over the country. As you already know from your experience, only full dedication to work can give success. Only thing you need to tackle more would be the changed environment in new state and the soon you adapt, the quicker you will be stabilizing your career.
